Lucy Norris, RN, MSN Principal Ms. Norris has over 25 years of progressive experience in the healthcare industry including 14 years as a Chief Nursing Officer. Her experience is diverse and includes nursing education, management training and development, directing large nursing departments, managing all aspects of a nurse staffing business, and directing patient care services at the executive level. She has implemented quality improvement programs and has strong working knowledge of hospital operations, cost controls, and productivity measurements. Mrs. Norris has experience identifying problems, providing realistic solutions and building patient care divisions capable of functioning in today’s challenging healthcare environment. During her recent professional experience, Ms. Norris has:
• Coordinated the implementation of an aggressive recruitment and retention program resulting in having zero vacancies and eliminating the use of agency staff. • Implemented productivity standards for areas of responsibility, reaching benchmark standards for most areas. • Coordinated organizational efforts towards preparation for JCAHO accreditation surveys accomplishing Accreditation with Commendation. • Coordinated organizational patient satisfaction efforts accomplishing greater than 90th percentile for numerous areas. • Led the team that redesigned ED process to reach best practice status in patient throughput. • Coordinated the design and construction project to redo a hospital cafeteria. • Coordinated efforts to establish a Skilled Nursing Unit, an Acute Rehab Unit, and a dedicated Psychiatric Unit. • Developed and mentored nurses to become nursing leaders. Several have progressed into leadership positions in the community; two of which are now CNOs. Prior to the founding of NFSG, she was Service-President, Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas, Fort Worth, TX. Director of Nursing-Maternal Child Health, Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas, TX.; Director of Nursing Clinical Staff Development/Continuing Education, The University of Texas, MD Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, Houston, TX. Other positions held during her career include: Various staff nurse positions in trauma, pediatrics, and public health; Clinical Instructor for 3 years; Service Director for a nursing business that provided private duty RNs, Home Health, and Hospital Staffing. Ms. Norris is affiliated with ANA, AONE, TNA, and TONE. She is currently serving on the Advisory Board for the PhD in Nursing Program at the University of Texas at Arlington.
