Departmental managers were included in this effort by expanding access to management and operation data through the use of on-line reports and the extraction of data to departmental systems. • Grant Hospital of Chicago - Provided analysis for the evaluation of managed care contracts with regard to the cost of services rendered, treatment protocols and a profile of the members admitted as patients. This effort was expanded to provide a comparative review of treatment practices within physician peer groups to ascertain the viability of alternate treatment protocols and venues. • Community Medical Center of Scranton, PA - Steve established the role of database administrator to assure constant and reliable data for management reporting. With this as a base, the data structure for a decision support system was defined and implement-ed. This system provided product line analysis for both cost and treatment protocols. While at SMS he had national account management responsibilities for the Daughters of Charity, a nineteen-hospital organization that implemented an integrated financial and clinical system.
