Mr. DuMont is a Senior Consultant with more than thirty years of management experience in the healthcare industry. His work is extensive in all aspects of receivable management, patient access, and systems’ improvements relating to Patient Financial Services. His experiences include:
• Reviewed and analyzed admissions process, which included staffing, assignments, and scheduling, reducing waiting time for patients. • Performed operational reviews, training, and implementation of changes to increase productivity of processes in the Admitting and Emergency Room areas of eight hospitals. • Reviewed and implemented Point of Service collections in both Admitting and Emergency Rooms of several hospitals. • Developed and established plans for transition of accounts receivable files, inventory and staff from a Central Business Office to a stand-alone hospital Business Office. • Reduced bad debt percentage from 21% to 12% within a 6-month period, with cash collections increase of 7%. • Reduced accounts receivable from 63 to 53 days within a 6 months period. • Assisted in the start-up of two healthcare facilities; an adolescent psychiatric hospital and a long-term acute care facility. • Served as Project Coordinator for the installation of electronic billing at several facilities. • Reviewed and re-negotiated contracts related to Patient Financial Services for better rates, increased performance, and enhanced quality of services provided. • Developed RFP’s (Requests For Proposal) for hospitals to evaluate collection agencies to be contracted with for several hospitals. • Served as Corporate Systems Trainer for new hospital employees within the Admitting and Business Office areas of several hospitals while with Health Trust. Mike’s experience includes: Interim Patient Financial Services Director for Catholic Health Partners of Chicago, IL; Interim Patient Access Director, Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, FL; Business Office Consultant/Coordinator positions at both HealthTrust and EPIC HealthCare, Dallas, TX; and management positions at Select Specialty Hospital (formerly American Transitional Hospital, Nashville, TN; Detroit Medical Center, Detroit, MI; Centennial Medical Center (formerly Park View Hospital), Nashville, TN; Skyline Medical Center (formerly Nashville Memorial Hospital), Nashville, TN. Mr. DuMont has been a member of HFMA for over 25 years, and has earned several awards.
